Bilateral Calcific Aorto-Iliac Disease – February 2020

Case and Plan:

87 year-old female with essential hypertension, who presented with BL buttock and thigh claudication. Initial non-invasive workup was unrevealing but a subsequent CT angiogram revealed severely calcific bilateral aorto-iliac disease. The patient tried conservative medical and exercise therapy with no improvement in her symptoms. She is now referred for further intervention with radial artery and femoral artery approach.

Excellent educational cases as usual. Is the lithotripsy balloon ( shockwave) now billable? Would love to use it but need to really watch costs. Also, the IFU says ok for BTK too. Any experience? Thx and keep up the excellent work!!
